How the Large Cap Stocks screen works
A stock is listed when it is an NSE-listed equity share and meets every condition below:
- Market cap of ₹20,000 Cr or more
Results are sorted by market cap, largest first. Large caps are the most traded and most widely researched Indian companies, and they make up the bulk of the Nifty 50 and Sensex.
Large Cap Stocks: common questions
How is a large cap stock defined here?
This screen uses a market cap of ₹20,000 Cr or more. SEBI classifies stocks by market-cap rank, not by a rupee figure: the top 100 companies are large caps, ranks 101 to 250 are mid caps and rank 251 onwards are small caps. AMFI publishes the list every six months. The two lists overlap heavily but are not identical.
How current are the financial figures?
Ratios built from results, such as growth, ROE, ROCE and margins, update as companies file their quarterly results. Price-based ratios such as P/E and P/B move with the share price every trading day, so a stock can enter or leave the screen between results.
Is every stock on this list a good investment?
No. A screen narrows thousands of listed companies down to those that meet a set of numeric conditions. It does not look at management, valuation history, sector outlook or news, so treat the list as a starting point for research.
