How the Negative Working Capital Stocks screen works
A stock is listed when it is an NSE-listed equity share and meets every condition below:
- Working capital below zero
- Market cap of ₹500 Cr or more
Results are sorted by market cap, largest first. In retail, FMCG and platform businesses, negative working capital often means customers pay before suppliers are paid, so growth funds itself.
Negative Working Capital Stocks: common questions
Is negative working capital good or bad?
It depends on why. For a business that collects cash upfront it is a strength. For a business that is struggling to pay suppliers it is a warning sign. Check the cash flow statement on each stock page to tell the two apart.
How current are the financial figures?
Ratios built from results, such as growth, ROE, ROCE and margins, update as companies file their quarterly results. Price-based ratios such as P/E and P/B move with the share price every trading day, so a stock can enter or leave the screen between results.
Is every stock on this list a good investment?
No. A screen narrows thousands of listed companies down to those that meet a set of numeric conditions. It does not look at management, valuation history, sector outlook or news, so treat the list as a starting point for research.
