Frequently asked questions

What are the Nifty PE, PB and dividend yield today?
Nifty 50: PE 19.77, PB 2.94, dividend yield 1.45% as of 04 Nov 2026. Nifty 500: PE 21.51, PB 3.19, dividend yield 1.28% as of 04 Nov 2026. Nifty Bank: PE 12.36, PB 1.68, dividend yield 1.12% as of 04 Nov 2026.
What do PE, PB and dividend yield measure?
The Price-to-Earnings (PE) ratio is an index's market capitalisation divided by the combined trailing earnings of its constituents. The Price-to-Book (PB) ratio compares that market capitalisation with their book value. Dividend yield is the dividends paid over the trailing year as a percentage of the index's market value. Read together, they show how the market's price compares with the profits, assets and payouts behind it.
Which indices are covered?
Nifty 50, the 50 largest companies; Nifty 500, the broad market across large, mid and small caps; and Nifty Bank, the banking sector. Each card shows the latest published reading for that index.
How is the historical table built?
The table and charts show the Nifty 50 weekly: one reading per week, taken on the last trading day of that week, for the past 52 weeks, newest first.
Where can I see longer history?
The Nifty PE ratio history page covers daily Nifty 50 PE, PB and dividend yield since 2016, with yearly highs, lows and averages. The India VIX history page covers the market’s expected volatility since 2010.
Is this investment advice?
No. These are historical index valuation figures for research and information only. A high or low reading against history describes where the market sits today, not what happens next.
